PowerMeter is a small, simple application that gives you some indication of how much “work” your PowerPC CPU is doing. The program does not use any sophisticated techniques that would normally be required to monitor true CPU usage. Such techniques tend to make a program less compatible with other software components in your system. However, the power meter is good enough to provide a reasonable indication.
Using the Program:
Just double-click the PowerMeter icon and your off. The program shows a thermometer that moves based on the current system usage. Click in the window to display a popup menu that allows you to change the display from the thermometer to a line chart.
PowerMeter only works on a Power Macintosh. If run on a 68k-based macintosh, you will be presented with a Stop alert, informing you that PowerMeter is designed to run only on Power Macintoshes.
